Albania offers great opportunities for investments in a number of sectors such as energy, minerals, agriculture and tourism in particular, which has seen a boom, yet beyond the reach of local tour operators, developing into a major draw for investments,
Presentation of Albania’s unlocked potentials was the highlight of the forum held earlier this week in Tirana with the participation of as many as 200 Italian enterprises represented by 350 delegates.
The forum enabled the Italian enterprises to meet up with Albanian businesses and explore the opportunities for cooperation in areas of interest for both parties. On top of all, energy, tourism and infrastructure were three sectors that aroused the interest of Italian entrepreneurs.
Giuseppe Ferrero, director of TUXOR company, a leader company in Europe in the worldwide supply of steel materials for civil and petrochemical engineering, in an interview with ATA, was adamant that Italian investors would expand their scope of cooperation in Albania.
“Albania is an enticing country for Italian investors” Ferrero said, voicing his commitment to present this small market with great potentials in other business to business meetings.
Ferrero says that this is his first visit to Albania and that the company he runs is one of the suppliers of Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), which will carry natural gas from the giant area of Shah Deniz II in Azerbaijan towards Europe. It will connect with Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) on Turkish-Greek border in Kipoi, to continue onshore crossing through Greece and Albania to the Adriatic Sea. The offshore section of the pipeline will begin near the Albanian city of Fier and will traverse the Adriatic Sea to tie into Italy’s gas transportation network in Southern Italy.
“Albania is eager to take major steps forward. I sense the desire, enthusiasm, courage and willingness. For sure, the five years to come will see a boom in economy,” he says.
I heard PM speak about potentials of your country and I liked it, Ferrero says. He asserted his will to cooperate with entrepreneurship and the 400 representatives in the hall broke into applause.
Concerning TAP project, Ferrero says that TAP is a pivotal project, because it attracts capitals and propels the region into development. “ To date, energy is the engine of development and TAP is energy,” Ferrero said.
In addition, he pointed to the strong relations and geographical proximity as instruments in intensifying bilateral cooperation.
I would relay this message to other investors. Why not? PM said that he would like Albania to be a little, efficient Italy. Albanians and Italians are alike in many ways. I am hopeful that Italian investors will come to invest in Albania and contribute to development of your country, Italian investor says.
